Sacred Heart Novena Day 7

Pray with us Day 7 of the Sacred Heart Novena in preparation for the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

It is only a few days before the feast of the Sacred Heart.

When you love someone and you have to leave that person or persons you love, you don’t talk about just anything; you give a last testament, an advice, something you consider very, very important; so that friend you love would be able to get by without your further presence because of that advice that you leave to him. And what is the advice that Our Lord left to us? What is that last, most important commandment?

He didn’t say “Work a lot!”  He didn’t say “Suffer! Unless you are miserable and unhappy you cannot go to heaven.”  What He said was: “Love each other as I love the Father and be united in that love. As I live in the Father, and the Father in me and we love each other, in the very same way you should be one in me and love each other. This will be the sign that the world will know that you are mine, that you love each other.”

When He meets me in heaven, His first question will not be “How much did you work?  How much did you suffer?  Did you do very important things, hard things, for me?”  The only thing He is interested in is “Do you love me? And did you love people and all God’s creatures for my sake as I told you to?

John 15:9-14

Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; remain in My love.
If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love;
just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.
These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.
You are My friends if you do what I command you.

Heart of Jesus, house of God and gate of Heaven, have mercy on us.

Heart of Jesus, abode of justice and love, have mercy on us.

Heart of Jesus, burning furnace of charity, have mercy on us.
