Sacred Heart Novena Day 3

June 5

Pray with us Day 3 of the Sacred Heart Novena in preparation for the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Remember our Lord’s love but also His humanity, and His tremendous act of taking our sins upon Himself. He who did not know sin, became sin for our sake.

How does God take it that He is not understood, not loved, rejected? Through St. Margaret Mary, in the devotion to His Sacred Heart, which has the guarantee of the Church, He is showing us the path: “Behold this Heart.” How much He put up with! How much ingratitude! How much lack of love!

“I want to be loved. Come to Me. Bring others to Me.” This is the First Friday devotion. See Him first of all as the Lover who suffers from our coldness.

In this situation where God is rejected, this God-loving familia has to be expressed. We need the vision of faith, that we might see ourselves as we are, and see God as He is – infinite love. God, in love, wants to be loved.

Isaiah 53:4-6, 10-12

Yet it was our pain that he bore,
our sufferings he endured.
We thought of him as stricken,
struck down by God and afflicted,
But he was pierced for our sins,
crushed for our iniquity.
He bore the punishment that makes us whole,
by his wounds we were healed.
We had all gone astray like sheep,
all following our own way;
But the Lord laid upon him
the guilt of us all.

By making his life as a reparation offering,
he shall see his offspring, shall lengthen his days,
and the Lord’s will shall be accomplished through him.
Because of his anguish he shall see the light;
because of his knowledge he shall be content;
My servant, the just one, shall justify the many,
their iniquity he shall bear.
Therefore I will give him his portion among the many,
and he shall divide the spoils with the mighty,
Because he surrendered himself to death,
was counted among the transgressors,
Bore the sins of many,
and interceded for the transgressors.

Heart of Jesus, propitiation for our sins, have mercy on us.

Heart of Jesus, filled with reproaches, have mercy on us.

Heart of Jesus, bruised for our offenses, have mercy on us.

Heart of Jesus, victim for our sins, have mercy on us.
